Visa Category
Visa C (Short-Stay Visa)
The Schengen C visa allows for tourism, business, or visits (excluding work) up to 90 days every 180 days; for stays over 90 days, apply for a D visa for up to six months in Austria.
Visa A (Airport transit visa)
Foreigners not leaving an airport’s international transit zone usually don’t need a visa, except nationals from specific countries who must obtain a category “A” visa unless exempted.

Visa D (National Visa)
The Visa D permits stays in Austria ranging from 91 days to 6 months, is non-extendable within Austria, requires proof of stay purpose, and may exceptionally last up to 12 months under certain international agreements.

- A passport photo (35×45 mm, color).
- A valid passport (2 blank pages, valid for 3+ months beyond visa period).
- Biometric fingerprints, unless taken for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months.
- Passport photo page copy.
- Previous Schengen visas copies.
- Transport proof (booking or reservation; no need for a paid ticket).
- Travel insurance with €30,000 coverage for the schengen area (EEA/Swiss citizens’ family members exempt).
- An invitation letter for visits.
- An Electronic Declaration of Sponsorship ID number if lacking personal funds.
- Power of attorney for unaccompanied minors.
- Evidence of ties to home country (property, employment, studies, family).

Who Issues Work Permit-
The employment – approval is issues exclusively by the Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS). The necessary allowance is issues by the Austrian Employer.

Extension: To extend your work permit, apply for a Red-White-Red Plus card extension before expiration for an additional two years in Austria.
Where to apply for Visa : Submit your Austrian visa application in person or via an authorized representative at the embassy, consulate, or through VFS Global, as mailed applications are not accepted.
