WHO CAN SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS?
You can register in person or through a proxy. You can grant your proxy authorization only in writing.
A parent, legal guardian, or actual guardian who provides care at the place of joint residence can register a person who:
- Does not have legal capacity (completely incapacitated individuals, children under 13 years old).
- Has limited legal capacity (partially incapacitated individuals, children aged 13 to 18 years old).
WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE ?
- Temporary Residence Registration Form:
- Download the PDF (1.73 MB), fill it out at home, or complete it at your local municipal office. You can also ask an official to print the filled-out form from the system.
- Valid Travel Document.
- Visa.
If you are in Poland under visa-free travel or waiting for a decision on a temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit, or long-term EU resident permit and you have submitted your application on time, prepare:
- Valid travel document.
- ONE of the following documents:
- Temporary identity certificate for a foreigner.
- Residence card.
- Tolerated stay permit.
- Temporary residence permit.
- Permanent residence permit.
- Long-term EU resident permit.
- Decision granting refugee status in Poland, subsidiary protection in Poland, humanitarian stay, or tolerated stay.
If you are the owner or have another legal title to the apartment where you want to register, bring ONE of the following documents to confirm this:
- Civil law contract, such as a lease agreement.
- Extract from the land and mortgage register or excerpts from sections I and II of the land and mortgage register.
- Administrative decision.
- Court ruling.
If you are NOT the owner and do not have another legal title to the apartment where you want to register:
- A document confirming the owner’s or another entity’s legal title to the apartment.
If you are registering another person, you must also have:
- A document confirming that you are authorized to act on their behalf (e.g., power of attorney, court ruling establishing guardianship, statement that you are caring for a minor or disabled person and share the same residence).
- Identity document.
On the form you bring to the office, the owner or another entity with legal title to the apartment must confirm that you reside at the address.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO ?

- An official will register your residence immediately upon receiving your application.
WHEN TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTS ?
No later than the 4th day after moving into the residence in Poland where you want to register.
WHERE TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTS ?
At the municipal office in the area where you live.
You can also deregister from your previous permanent and temporary residences at the same time as registering your new residence.
HOW MUCH YOU WILL PAY ?
The registration service is free of charge.
A certificate of temporary residence registration costs 17 PLN.
Check the website of the municipal office where you are registering to find out the account number for the payment.
HOW LONG YOU WILL WAIT ?
An official will register your residence immediately upon receiving your application.
PROBLEM WITH REGISTRATION – WHAT TO DO?
It may happen that you do not have a legal title to the property where you want to register, or the property owner refuses to confirm on the registration form that you live there. What can you do?
- Submit the registration form at the municipal office in the area where the property is located.
- Attach a statement to your application explaining why you do not have the required documents.
- The office will conduct an administrative procedure to determine if you reside in the property where you want to register. If confirmed, they will issue an administrative decision to register your residence.
Attention! If you are not a citizen of an EU or EFTA member state and you are not a family member of such a citizen, you cannot register your residence online. You must present the documents that confirm your right to stay in Poland at the office.
